Lay out your fleet, then take turns firing into each other's waters: sink all five of their ships before they sink yours. Play the computer, or send a friend a link and play from two browsers.
Sink all five ships of the other fleet before it sinks yours. Ships afloat counts both fleets, yours first.
Each side has its own sea, 10 × 10, A to J across and 1 to 10 down, and a fleet of five ships: a flagship of 5 squares (it flies the admiral’s pennant), a cruiser of 4, a destroyer and a submarine of 3, and a patrol boat of 2. Ships lie across or down and never touch, not even at a corner.
Your fleet starts laid out at random, and Shuffle lays it out again. Drag a ship to move it; where it can’t lie, it is ringed in Coral. Tap a ship to turn it about the square you tapped; it shifts along to fit if it can. Ready starts the battle.
Their waters, the big sea, is where you fire; Your fleet beside it shows their shots. You take turns, one shot each, hit or miss. A hit burns and a miss splashes, the last shot on each sea is ringed in Amber, and the line by your fleet says what happened. Against the computer you fire first; with a friend, who fires first is drawn.
A ship whose every square is hit sinks and shows itself, and Their fleet strikes it through. No ship can lie next to a sunk one, so the water around it is dotted and can’t be fired at. Sink all five first and you win; See the seas lifts the cover at the end to show where every ship lay.
Level sets how well it plays (Medium to start). It can change before Ready and after a battle, never during one. Easy fires anywhere, and after a hit, half the time beside it. Medium hunts on a checkerboard, then follows a hit’s line. Hard works out every way the ships still afloat could lie and fires where most of them meet.
Send a friend the link (Copy link) and play from two browsers. Each of you lays out your own fleet and presses Ready, and the battle starts once both have; until then the other side shows Laying out or Ready. Neither of you ever sees the other’s ships, only where the shots land and the ships sunk. Play again starts a new battle, and Leave the game ends it for both of you.
Tap or click a square in their waters to fire: on your turn a reticle marks the square under the pointer, and its letter and number light up. With a keyboard, the arrows aim (the square shows over their waters) and Enter or Space fires. While you lay out your fleet, 1 to 5 pick a ship, the arrows move it, R turns it and Enter is Ready.
A battle against the computer is kept in this browser from Ready, with its level, and comes back paused; a fleet you are still laying out is not kept. A friend’s battle goes through a small server that keeps both fleets and answers each shot, so neither of you sees the other’s ships; it forgets the battle a day after the last shot, or as soon as one of you leaves.
